From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1955: CONQUEST (Marx 1952) Each 7.50. An intriguing new hybrid described as a "blue Lady Mohr" by iris critics who have observed and admired the unusual and attractive qualities of this giant oncobred. A two toned flower of delicate shades, standards pale wisteria blue, falls of similar but lighter hue with a faint suffusion of chartreuse producing the bi-color effect. The imposing bloom is distinguished further by a prominent bronze beard and a small purple signal patch. Extra early and unlike many of the hybrids, Conquest is vigorous and free blooming. Branching fair. Height about 30 inches. |
From Iris Test Garden Catalog, 1955: CONQUEST. (W. Marx '52). E-M., 30 in. (Snoqualmie x Capitola). A "blue" Lady Mohr. Standards more bluish, falls somewhat the same as Lady Mohr's. $9.00. |
