From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: Known to us as Homer who recorded Grecian mythology in the Iliad about 1000 years B.C. The flowers have rather an unusual shape with long falls. They are of a pearl-gray ground with violet veins and the falls have a large brown blotch. Parentage not recorded. Early bloom. 18". 75ยข.
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: HOMERUS AR (Unknown, NR). Rainbow: "pearl-grey blooms, flushed amethyst, with violet veins and with a very black triangular signal. Style crests rich mahogany, beard very black." On Vallette's list of recommended oncogelias, which included cultivars classified as regeliocyclus today, and described as "gray, veined violet; large brown signal patch". Ref: Vallette, p. 171.
