From The Court Of Iris catalog, 1955: Here we are again on familiar ground for Theseus was an Athenian king who conquered the Amazons and one of his wives was their queen. (He had several-though only one at a time we think.) The standards are a deep violet with even deeper veins and the falls are of creamy-white with veining and a blotch of deep violet. Parentage not recorded. Early midseason bloom. 20". $1.50.
From Supplement To The Comprehensive Checklist of Aril and Arilbred Iris by Sharon McAllister, April 2000: THESEUS AR (C. G. Van Tubergen, NR). Sdlg #NIA. Parentage unknown. '76 CL: Amethyst mulberry; black signal and beard. Court of Iris: "Deep violet standards with deeper veins. The cream-white surface of the falls is netted deep violet. Signal the same." Rainbow: "EM-21 ". Standards deep amethyst pink, veined in dark mulberry. Falls similar, but with a silvery white border and a signal and beard in black." Mount Clare, 1969. Notes: Counted as a 21-chromosome diploid, an RC in both systems. Ref: ASI '76, p. 84.
