(IB) 'Royal Gossip'

1988, Nichols

'Royal Gossip' (Hooker Nichols, R. 1988). Seedling #8658A. IB, 18" (46 cm), Midseason to late bloom. Standards nearly solid dark violet with few white flecks at base; falls same with white center, indigo blue line below beard; blue beard tipped brown; ruffled. 'Broadway' X 'Court Magician. Hillcrest 1993. High Commendation 1990; Honorable Mention 1996.

From AIS Bulletin #289 April 1993 Introducing ROYAL GOSSIP (H. Nichols) IB 18" M-L. Ruffled flowers have nearly solid dark violet standards with a few white flecks at midribs, the falls are the same with white centers. An indigo blue line extends below the blue tipped brown beards. A stunning new creation which has received rave reviews. (Broadway X Court Magician). $15.00. Hillcrest Iris Gardens.
