From Marx Gardens catalog, 1958: LIGHT AT DAWN (Marx 1957) Each $10.00. Like morning light pushing back the last traces of night, so merges this flower as a herald of great promise. It is a medium 7-inch bloom in which the blue (Wood Violet) hues seem to be centered in the rather ample frills and ruffles of the petals. The ground color is pure white but the dark blue frills and somewhat lighter blue-violet stippling towards the edges of the petals result in an over-all light blue effect from which break, like rays of the rising sun, the golden spears of the signal patch. The flat styles are pure white with just a touch of violet on their tips. Excellent substance. 32 inches tall. Non-branching. Very late. Pictured on page 4. |
