Standards heavily ruffled dark red; Falls lighter; tiny yellow signal. T. Sakata seedling X ('Imperial Velvet' x 'Good Omen'). Paolucci/Conningham 1979.

From AIS Bulletin #234 Summer 1979 Introducing LORENZACCIO (Paolucci & Conningham). Gamma 1001101-00111. "Tars Tarkas" X (Imperial Velvet x Good Omen). Height 90 cm., bloom diameter 20-22.5 cm., 6 petals plus petalloids. Diploid. This heavily ruffled, deep, dramatic red may be the final statement in the search for an elegant, sunfast and weather resistant red. It has remained erect even during our hottest and driest summer season. $45.00. Paolucci/Conningham.
