From Marx Gardens catalog, 1962: RAMPANT RIVER Each $7.50. This most difficult to describe Iris, due to its intricate color pattern, is a seedling out of REIGN OF GLORY and MIDSUMMER REVERIE. The color pattern is most unusual to say the least and this is the first of its color group we have offered. Reddish-purple is the dominant color with radial white lines extending almost to the edges. Showy yellow signals are set off by an egg white area peppered and striated red-purple. White styles are also tipped red-purple. A most charming feature are the crimped frilly outer portions of the floral segments. Medium size blooms on 4-1/2 to 5-foot stems. Midseason. |
