From AIS Bulletin #266 July 1987 Introducing ROYAL VISION (Helsley 1987) JI, 26", M. Imagine 7" flowers of rich violet (RHS 83 A/B) with wide ruffled overlapping falls held horizontally, even on hot Missouri summer days when most Japanese iris are drooping from the heat. Add to this a clean bright golden-yellow (9A) signal on each of the three falls and a neat compact crown formed by the standards and stylearms. Vigorous plants with excellently substanced flowers. Add this all together and you have a Royal Vision! One branch and terminal with 3-4 buds per stem. Sdlg. 1-85. $35.00. Calvin Helsley. |
