'Silverband' ( Bob Bauer and John Coble, R. 1989) JI, 35.5" (90 cm), Early midseason bloom. Dark red violet; silver white and cream variegated foliage. Sport of I. ensata spontanea - plant from Japan through A. Hazzard. Ensata Gardens 1989. Honorable Mention 1992.

From Ensata Gardens catalog, 1989: SILVERBAND (Bauer-Coble '89) Import. JI species. 3 P. E 36". Registered name for I. ensata 'variegata'. The normal species bloom of 2 1/2" dark maroon-red flowers. Variegated foliage with near white variegation the length of the leaves. Vigorous grower. Variegated all year with some increase in variegation after bloom. $20.00
