'Woodland Brook' ( Walter Marx, R. 1958) Seedling 49-16. JI (double), 36" (91 cm), Late bloom. Violet-blue self. From 2 Higo seedlings. Marx 1959.

From Marx Gardens catalog, 1963: WOODLAND BROOK (Marx 1959) Each $6.00. As the color picture accurately shows, we have here a distinct color perhaps best described as violet blue. An absolute self possessing substance and texture that has commanded superlative appraisal every year since its maiden bloom in 1955. The opulent flowers are extra wide petaled and average 9 inches or more in diameter. Picture page 5.
