'Whoopee' (Caroline Dormon, R. 1954). Louisiana, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-VR1, Rich wine-red self; style-arms pale greenish yellow. 'The Khan' x 'Bayou Sunset'. Melrose 1959.

From AIS Bulletin #153, April 1959. Introducing WHOOPEE, 30" Huge carmine-rose flowers open from yellow-tinged huds, the yellow tinge remaining on the reverse and edging over onto the surface margins of the sepals. A big' bright golden lance-shaped signal on each sepal sharpens the luscious effect of this wide, flat, open flower. Net $7.50. Melrose Gardens.
