Morgan (1882-1962) was a Canadian breeder of Siberian and Tall Bearded irises. He was one of the founding members of the American Iris Society in 1920. (CIS-N v22n3p71) One of his best seedlings was 'Mount Royal', which, in 1930, was the first Canadian TB to win an AM from the Royal Horticultural Society of England. (CIS-N v22 n1 p18). The Morgan Award for Siberian Irises and its successor, the
Morgan-Wood Medal, are named in his honor. Morgan was awarded the American Iris Society
Hybridizer Award in 1950.
