Hybridizer Eva L. (Pierce) Soper (1900-1969)¹

Walwyn Hertforshire, England

Eva's father, George Soper(1970-1942) was a well renowned illustrator. His education in engraving occurred under Sir Frank Short at the Royal College of Art 1916-1920. His etchings are considered to be among the finest of their time, and was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy and a full member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. In 1908, George built a house in Harmer Green, Welwyn, Hertfordshire where he lived for the rest of his life and was known as 'Wildings' when his daughters inherited the property. Here is an interesting link on George Soper.
