Public Relations and Marketing Resources

The Public Relations and Marketing Committee is one of the Standing Committees of the American Iris Society. It is responsible for a number of AIS initiatives including the Iris Encyclopedia, the World of Irises blog, the News & Notes electronic newsletter, and other social media. This page is a way to pull together a number of resources for use throughout AIS and seek comments and suggestions for improving them. - See also: Newsletter Resources.

Marketing Handbook

The committee prepared a marketing handbook in 2012 to help Clubs, Regions, and Sections with their public relations or marketing. You can find it (PDF - 6 pages) on the AIS website here. This was updated in 2016 to a 9 page PDF. It includes a number of suggestions for publicity and meetings. The Handbook can also be found from a link on the On-Line Groups page, which is another resource to explore.

In addition to the suggestions in the current edition of the marketing handbook, there are some new resources for you to use or mention as benefits. New members qualify for the Voucher Program (a $25 voucher for irises good at participating nurseries). Find a poster you can use and more details on our Free Iris page on the Iris Encyclopedia. There you may also find other posters detailing promotions (currently there is one for the Spuria Iris Society).

Another member benefit to mention is the electronic AIS newsletter News & Notes. Learn more about it in this World of Irises posting and see a sample and a slide for you here.

New irisarians can learn more about growing and enjoying irises from the Beginner's Corner resources.

Press Place

Press Place: An Iris Home for Garden Writers is a way we reach out to writers who may be interested in what is happening in the world of irises. It has recent press releases, especially our award announcements. It is another source that could use your suggestions how to make it more useful, which you can add directly to that page.
