Initial focus was on reviewing and updating the AIS Mission Statement. The Board of Directors adopted the new Mission Statement at their May 2016 meeting. Published in the Irises Bulletin Summer 2016, it is:
The Mission of The American Iris Society is to organize and disseminate knowledge of the genus iris, while fostering its preservation, enjoyment and continued development.
Discussion of Vision Statements to support the Mission Statements is ongoing.
How to help members forming new affiliates was one of the topics surfaced during this discussion. A summary page was created on the Iris Encyclopedia for this topic. It contains links to forms and other suggestions which were already available within AIS, just not in one location. It can be, and is being, updated easily because it is part of the Iris Wiki. You can see
Forming a New Affiliate here and add information or suggestions.
Thank you for your help.
We also are developing a series of long term and short term goals. A part of this is sharing some of them with you on the Iris Encyclopedia
here asking for your help.
Please give us your thoughts! And if you would like to give us ongoing feedback, see this
call for volunteers.
