POSITION TITLE: Convention Liaison

• To ensure that hosts for the annual spring convention of the American Iris Society and the annual fall meeting of the AIS Board of Directors are secured in a timely manner and that the hosts are fully cognizant of carrying out the required functions of successful conventions/meetings.

• He/she is appointed by the AIS President and responsible to the Board of Directors.

1. To secure a host organization and site for the annual Spring convention of the American iris Society.
2. To secure a host organization and site for the annual Fall meeting of the AIS Board of Directors.

1. Assess invitations for conventions or meetings to be certain the host group involved has the resources tohost the event.
2. Present invitations to the AIS Board of Directors for approval.
3. Interact with current and future chairmen of conventions/fall board meetings to solve any problems.
4. Contact future convention chairmen or the Convention Program and Meeting Chairman to arrange the scheduling of a time and location for a meeting for Past, Present, and Future Chairmen. The Convention Liaison chairs this meeting.
5. Be certain that the Editor of The Bulletin of The American Iris Society has current information on future conventions.
6. Be certain that the person responsible for the AIS web page has current information on future conventions.
7. Maintain an adequate inventory of the AIS Convention Handbook.
8. Attend the spring and fall meetings of the AIS Board of Directors and present a written report.
9. Chairperson of Convention Committee.
