POSITION TITLE: Iris Program Resources (Programs) received 11-5-2015

BASIC FUNCTION:
  • To coordinate all activities of the speakers program of The American Iris Society

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • He/she is appointed by the AIS President and responsible to the Board
    of Directors.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
  • To generate and maintain a list of speakers to present an effective speakers program to the membership of The American Iris Society.

  • To generate and maintain a list of fully accredited AIS judges who are qualified and willing to present judges' training classes.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:
  • To contact and interact with persons who are qualified to present programs related to the genus Iris who are willing and available to present programs.
  • To promote the speakers and judges' training instructor program in the Bulletin of The American Iris Society and regional publications as appropriate.
  • To receive requests for speakers and/or judges' training instructors. Requests should include: Name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, name of contact and host society, date of meeting, and preferred topic.
  • To maintain a list of qualified and willing judges' training instructors on the AIS website. Information included should be: Name and address of instructor, topic(s), telephone and e-mail contact.
  • It is not the responsibility of this Committee Chair to facilitate the logistics of a JT presentation, only to make available the list of qualified judges and the relevant contact information.)
  • To present a written report to the AIS Board of Directors at its annual Spring and Fall meetings.

TIMETABLE FOR ACCOMPLISHING SPECIFIC TASKS:

Throughout the calendar year
  • Solicit qualified speakers & judges' training instructors for inclusion in the program.

  • Receive requests for speakers and interact with the requesting person as to contact with proposed speaker and details of the visit (costs involved, availability of speaker, etc.)

  • To ensure that the website listing of qualified judges' training instructors is current.

    April - May

  • Present a report of program activities to the spring meeting of the AIS Board of Directors.

    November, 1st weekend

  • Present a report of program activities to the fall meeting of the AIS Board of Directors
