POSITION TITLE: Photo Contest Competition received 11-5-2015

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • To coordinate all activities of the Photo Contest Competition of The American Iris Society.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • He/she is appointed by the AIS President and responsible to the Board of Directors.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

  • To procure the necessary prints and digital photographs to present an effective photo competition, which has an ending date of June 30th.
  • To safeguard and store all of the digital jpeg files and prints (scanned) of the photo competition results by use of the AIS disaster plan.
  • To distribute photo competition results to the AIS Webmaster and AIS Editor for the January Bulletin.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

  • To solicit digital and print photos and receive permission from the photographer to use these images for any and all AIS publications, as detailed on the entry form.
  • To make duplicate digital photographs of photo prints to make judging easier. The prints are to be present during judging for reference and clarification should there be any questions.
  • To present a written report to the AIS Board of Directors at its annual Spring and Fall meeting.

TIMETABLE FOR ACCOMPLISHING SPECIFIC TASKS:

From announcement in the January Bulletin until end of competition June 30, solicit digital and print photographs from iris enthusiasts.

January - June
  • Begin process of setting a date (July-August) for Photo Judges to begin voting for the winner, runner-up and honorable mentions in the various categories.

    July

  • Confirm photos/scanned prints are in correct category or if only one in category move it to another category, if it qualifies. Take photos to be judged.

    July - August

  • Send out e-mails to the winner, runner-up and honorable mentions.

  • Phone call if no e-mail address.

  • E-mail letter to MEMSec & Convention Host.

August - September
  • Present results to Webmaster and Bulletin Editor for January Bulletin.

    November

  • Attend Board of Director's meeting.

  • Present a report of program activities.
