POSITION TITLE: RVP Representative received 11-5-2015

BASIC FUNCTION:

  • To act as representative and spokesperson on the AIS Board of Directors for one year on behalf of the RVP Board of Counselors.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • He or she is elected by the AIS Board of Counselors and is responsible to that body and to the AIS Board of Directors
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

  • To gather and convey issues occurring at the regional level, that may be affecting the Society as a whole, to the National Board of Directors for consideration or clarification by that body.
  • To attend the two meetings of the AIS Board of Directors which take place during his/her year of tenure and exercise his/her vote on all propositions before that body as an elected director of the AIS Board.
  • To communicate during his/her time in office with the 23 other RVPs throughout the AIS in an effort to receive and reflect their input on issues under consideration by the AIS Board.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

  • Elected to office by the RVP Board of Counselors which is made up of the 24 AIS Regional Vice Presidents holding office during that one year period of the RVP Reps term.
  • The term for an RVP Representative begins following the annual spring meeting and ends the next year following the annual spring meeting.
AIS BYLAWS REFERENCE:

In accordance with Article V, Section 3 (b) of the Bylaws of The American Iris Society, one Director who is a Regional Vice President in the second year of that office shall be elected by the AIS Board of Counselors at its annual spring meeting and shall hold office for the succeeding fiscal year and until a successor is duly elected and qualified. The term shall be from the adjournment of the AIS Board of Directors meeting in the Spring to the adjournment at the next Spring AIS Board of Directors Meeting.
