POSITION TITLE: Treasurer received 11-5-2015

BASIC FUNCTION:
  • To coordinate and administer the financial affairs of The American Iris Society

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • He/she is elected annually by and is responsible to the Board of Directors.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
  • To receive and keep records of all AIS monetary assets, except for Storefront inventory.
  • To maintain the monetary assets, Unrestricted and Restricted, in special accounts in the name of the American Iris Society.
  • To invest excess unrestricted and restricted funds in money market or certificates of deposit that fully insured by the U.S. Government according to the approved AIS Investment Policy.
  • To pay authorized AIS expenses. Most are done upon written, signed order of the Secretary, countersigned by the President and/or First Vice President but there are some exceptions. Refunds of advertising fees paid but the ad isn’t included in Irises are an example.
  • To make a semi-annual and annual report of all the receipts and disbursements to the AIS Board of Directors.
  • To prepare and present an annual budget for approval at the Fall Meeting of the AIS Board of Directors.
  • To prepare (or have prepared) and file all required annual Forms 990 and Forms 990T and Forms 1099/1096 for the American Iris Society.
  • To file and check the annual filing of electronic Forms 990N for those affiliates, sections and regions of the American Iris Society that are tax exempt.
