From Treholme Gardens catalog 1928: KURDISTAN (Dykes 1922) E. 86 G. 90 16" V. E. S. reddish-purple; F. rich dark purple, almost black. Small well shaped flower, very profuse bloomer lasting long in flower. A striking though dark and brilliantly colored iris; very highly recommended. 1.00. |
KURDISTAN (Dykes) $6.00. This is a new variety with an extremely bright red purple coloring which bloomed early in the season before our disastrous May freezes and, although all the bloom was killed, yet it had the vitality to furnish new buds and bloom nearly three weeks after the freeze. I was much pleased with its color and believe it will be a valuable variety, especially for breeders. All visitors to the garden were attracted by it. |
