'Phil Edinger' (Ben Hager, R. 1991). SPEC-X, 36" (91 cm), Early bloom. Standards maroon tinge over yellow; falls yellow radially veined brown, prominent brown signal; 30+" glossy deep green foliage. 'Holden Clough' X -- probably self. Melrose 1991. Honorable Mention 1994; Award of Merit 1996; Randolph-Perry Medal 2000.

From AIS Bulletin #281 April 1991 Introducing PHIL EDINGER (Hager '91) NON-BEARDED hybrid. This is a sibling to the previously introduced seedling from Holden Clough that was named ROY DAVIDSON. Roy and Phil were the first to discover a seed on that parent iris. This one differs in that the signals are a darker brown with brown veining traces out over the deep yellow falls. Almost no standards, but they are blended brown also. Both of these hybrids are exceptionally vigorous in acid soils with plenty of water. $25.00. Melrose Gardens.
