'Pixie' (Sport discovered in North Holland by Van Den Berg, introduced 1998. A.J. Kroon & Zn., Registered with KAVB, May 28, 2001). Subgenus Hermodactyloides. 4" (10 cm). Flowers 3" (7,5 cm) in diameter. Dark blue standards, falls even darker with a bright yellow midline in signal area with some white marks to either side. (sport of 'Harmony'). Received an Award of Merit as a flowering plant for exhibition by Royal Horticultural Society. Shown by R. Goodey, February 16, 2000. The description in the 2001 RHS proceedings reads; "Leaves 160-220 x 6 mm, erect, dark green fading and yellowing down their length. Flowers well proportioned and held erect, one flower per stem and two stems per bulb. Perianth tube length c.85 mm. Standards up to 52 x 12 mm, spathulate, erect, blade and haft vivid violet (88A/B). Falls up to 47 x 20 mm. Circular to ovate, horizontal to incurved through ageing of the flower; blade vivid violet (89A) darkening slightly to the centre, signal as an extension of the haft; haft light violet (88C/D) with narrow central band of vivid yellow (17B/C) flanked by a wider band of yellowish white (155D) densely blotched with vivid violet (89A). Style arms close on haft, vivid violet 89B); stylar lip also vivid violet (89B). Crests up to 20 x 11 mm, fringed, coloured as for standards. Filament a blend of yellowish white (155D) and light violet (88D), anther light greenish yellow (5D)." Iris reticulata. M. Bieb. X Iris histrioides (G. Wilson) S. Arnott.
