Special Note: "In my opinion its a weed: it got bored in this garden and tried to move out under the fence into the communal area behind. That was no fun so it spent the next three years getting itself back again; I think the pickings are better this side of the fence.
I've grown it for decades as it was one of the plants that were bred while he (Dr. Jack Ellis) was working with at Nuffield House in London. Being a hybrid it will set seed with joyous abandon and, I suspect, cross with any other cane Evansia within bee reach. I named it for the village in which his family farm house featured. After leaving University College, he retired there building himself a large greenhouse and enlarging the pond to accommodate his wet-landers. One of our nurserymen wanted it for his collection so it had to be named. It had a Cultural Commendation from the JIC and I meant to try for a bench award, but something went wrong - probably my knee - and i never managed the necessary three spikes."-Anne Blanco White
