■(SDB) 'Garnet Treasure'

1953, Douglas

'Garnet Treasure' ( Geddes Douglas, R. 1953). SDB, 8-10" (20-25 cm), Midseason to late bloom. Standards light phlox-purple, Falls deep petunia-purple, wide border of phlox purple; white beard. 'Minnie Colquitt' X pumila violet. Fairmount, Brentwood 1953.

Note: Originally registered as an IB because the SDB class was not established until 1958.

From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1958: GARNET TREASURE (Douglas '53) 11" (Minnie Colquitt X violet pumila) S. light wine red, F. garnet bordered by the color of the standards. l.50
From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1962: GARNET TREASURE (Douglas 1953) Each 1.50. Standards are light wine red while the falls are deep garnet, bordered in wine. Midseason to late. 10 inches.
