From AIS Bulletin #256 January 1985 Introducing MABEL CODAY (Helsley) SIB, 30/1, EM. One can only use superlatives when describing this new Siberian. The flowers are a bright medium blue (93A) with a white signal spot which it inherits from the pollen parent. The flowers have a super compact form with wide flaring falls with near touching hafts. The stylearms are short and compact and have a violet tint to the blue. Added to all this we have ruffling, 2 branches and terminal with 5-7 buds per stem, good growth habits and it is one of the very few Siberians with a mild sweet fragrance. Named for my grandmother. Sdlg. 2-83 (White Swirl X Showdown). $35.00. Calvin Helsley. |
