From Melrose Gardens catalog, 1968: SPARKLING ROSE (Ben R. Hager '68) SIBERIAN IRIS 36" (Towanda Red Flare X Eric the Red) The name is pronounced: Sparkling Rose-ay, after the wine. A Iarge flower like its parent, Eric, in form with its wide rounded falls and erect standards but the color is a quiet rose mauve. There is an unobtrusive bronze veining over the signal area which ends in just a flash of clean light blue in the center of the falls. Like all the Siberians in the "red" class, only two buds. Makes a neat and floriferous clump. $10.00 |
