'Abington Purple' (
Richard J. Blakeway-Phillips, R. 1993).
Section Limniris,
Series Unguiculares, SPEC, height 12" (30 cm). Early to late bloom. Purple with orange signal; Selection of
ris unguicularis (probably from
angustifolia). Awarded an Award of Merit by The Royal Horticultural Society in March of 1991 with the following description; "Standards erect, 3 cm long, 2.2 cm in diameter, Violet Group 86B tinged with Purple group 77C at base. Falls flaring, 3.4 cm long, 2.2 cm diameter, Violet Group 83B veined with slightly deeper color, centre at base streaked with Yellow-Orange Group 15A, haft a colour between Yellow Group 5C and Yellow group 5D becoming paler towards margins, with purple striations. Style violet group 85D very lightly tinged with Violet Group 85A; crest colour as style."
