__Iris alexeenkoi__ *Grossheim* ([[Main.Bio.HybridizerGrossheimA][Alexandre Grossheim]], 1950). [[Main.InfoClassificationSubgenusIris][Subgenus Iris]], [[Main.InfoClassificationSectionIris][Section Iris]], A dwarf bearded species closely related to [[SpecPumila][ _Iris pumila_ L.]] Dark purple-blue Standards and falls, About 8 inches (20 cm) tall. Beard white with hairs yellow tipped in the throat. Practically no pedicel with the flowers arising directly from the Rhizome as in [[Spec.SpecPumila][<i>I.</i> pumila]]. Described in Not. Syst. Herb. Inst. Bot. Acad. Sci., URSS, xiii. 4 (1950),

<b>Note: </b>It is possible that all the plants in cultivation in the USA are an imposter. Nonetheless the USA material has not been assigned a corrected species name and may represent a new species.
