■(SPEC) Iris orchioides Carrière
1880, Botanical author Carrière
Iris orchioides Carrière
, 1880, East Bokhara); Subgenus Scorpiris (Juno)
, Color Code Y4M.
Iris orchioides can be distinguished from Iris bucharica with which it had been confused for a long time by the large wings on the hafts of the falls which form a channel to direct pollinators. Bucharica has no enlarged wings. Dykes original key separated orchioides from bucharica but Dykes had not seen the true orchioides but was looking at a pure yellow form of bucharica.
