1935, Vvedensky
Iris tadshikorum Vved. ( Aleksei Ivanovich Vvedensky, 1935, near Darwaz, Pamir-Alai Mountains, Russian Central Asia); Subgenus Scorpiris, (Juno); height 2-4 pale violet flowers with white crest; Rootstock a well-developed bulb 1.5-2 cm in diameter, with papery outer coats and with much thickened , fusiform roots; Leaves completely hiding the stem, , subfalcate, gradually attenuate with margins that are scaberulous or smooth; The perianth tube is 3.5-4 cm long; the pale violet falls 4-4.5 cm long; the margins of the haft nearly parallel, not winged and gradually enlarging into the blade; The white crest running down the center is a dissected ridge; The standards hanging downward are only 1.5 cm long with 3 lobes at their ends; The style crests obliquely triangular, obtuse, crenate, 5 by 12 mm; stigmas obreniform. Distinguished from Iris rosenbachiana Regel., Iris nicolai Vved. And Iris baldschuanica B. Fedtsch. by the leaves united at their base into an amplexicaul sheath; Bull. Univ. As. Centr. 21, 152 (1935).
