| From AIS Bulletin #174, July 1964. Introducing ANACAPA (Walker 1964). Anacapa is named after one of the Channel Islands off the coast of California. The name is most fitting because the flower reminds one of the crest of a wave breaking in the blue Pacific. The standards are a light bluish-violet self. The falls are a very pale bluish-violet delicately penciled with the darker color of the standards. In the center of the fall is a soft blended yellow signal which gives the flower life. The edges of both the standards and falls are beautifully crinkled. Anacapa is a vigorous grower with strong glaucous green foliage which is held erect. The bloom stalks are 35" tall and the flowers of a size to balance well on the plant as a whole. This is one of the spurias suitable for front or border planting and as such will have an important place in the garden. $15.00. Schreiner.
