1984, Niswonger

'Blue Bunting' (O. David Niswonger, R. 1984). Seedling #Sp 5-80. SPU, 38" (97 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards dark blue purple; falls dark yellow (near orange), rimmed blue purple. Seedling #Sp 1-77: (Ferguson dark brown seedling x 'Crow Wing') X unknown. Cape Iris 1984. Honorable Mention 1986.

From AIS Bulletin #253 April 1984 Introducing BLUE BUNTING (Niswonger '84) Sp 5-80: Sp 1-77: (Ferguson dark brown sdlg. x Crow Wing) X unknown (probably a self). Spuria, 38", midseason, fertile. For those who like the smaller hybrid spurias, you may like this brightly colored dark blue variety with a bright near orange color in the falls. $20.00. Cape Iris Gardens.
