From Milliken Gardens catalog, 1948: RUSSET FLAME (Nies) A vigorous, free flowering Spuria of rich russet coloring which makes it especially useful as a cut flower. The under color is deep yellow the falls being heavily bordered with dar brown while the standards are washed to a brownish yellow. Heavy substance and good keeping quality make it valuable to florists and home gardeners. 3-1/2 feet. $4.00. |
From Walter Marx Gardens catalog 1962: RUSSET FLAME (Nies 1943) Each 1.00; 3 for 2.50. The deep yellow ground is so heavily infused and washed with brown that the all-over effect is a rich dark brown. Vigorous grower and prolific bloomer. HM 1950. |
