■(TB) 'Alline Rogers'
1949, Kleinsorge
'Alline Rogers' (
Rudolph Kleinsorge R.1949). TB 34" Midseason bloom. High Commendation 1949; AIS Bulletin 115: 7 Oct. 1949.
From Cooley's Gardens catalog for 1950: "The form of this flower resembles 'Cascade Splendor', one of its parents, but the color inclines more to pink or rose, with just a suggestion of ashes of roses in its cast. There is considerable gold in the blending of color, especially near the haft. Style arms and beard are both golden yellow. Falls are wide and quite flat. standards upright and closed, the entire flower heavily ruffled. 34 inches tall. Having been admired by the wife of the President of the American Iris Society at the annual meeting in 1949 this Iris was named in her honor." (
'Cascade Splendor' X
'Daybreak'), Honorable Mention 1951.
"Alline Rogers, on a one-year plant, had a large but somewhat coarsely textured flower which made less appeal to me than its parent, Cascade Splendor-one of my favorites. If it performs as well when established, I may change my mind." [John Dolman, Jr. (Pennsylvania), “From Aldan to Walden and Points North, Varieties Noted in 1951,”
The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 123, (October 1951): 16.]
