AZURE GLOW - (Weed, 1923) Color effect a veined violet self; size good; form long, compact, oblong; flowering habit free; tall bearded class; height 36 in.; branching fastigiate. A flower of good substance; firm texture; smooth surface; good fragrance. Its good color and height, and fair flower heads, are useful in building up mass or for cut flowers. S. pallid violet faintly reticulated with purplish; carriage domed, arching; blade obovate, notched, undulate, revolute, smooth or slightly cockled; size 1¾ in. wide, 3 in. long. F. pale violet, reticulated and veined with spectrum violet on the lavender-white haft, brownish at base; carriage drooping to straighthanging; wedge-shaped, convex, odcordate; smooth; size 1¾ in. wide, 3 in. long. Minor parts: beard very fine, very dense, projecting, conspicuous, yellow-tipped; haft broad, channeled; reticulations fine, close; style-branches broad, overarching; crest small, fringed; pollen plentiful; spathe-valves green, one-half scarious. Growth moderate to vigorous; increase rapid; foliage stiff, leaves broad, deep glaucous yellow-green; 2-3 blooms open at once, floriferous; stalk erect, with 7 buds.
