<strong>'Black Nitie' </strong>([[Main.Bio.HybridizerBensonZ][Z. Benson]], R. 1959). Seedling# 4-4-19-6. TB, 30" (76 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-V3D, Standards plum-purple; falls darker with green overlay, gold beard. From seedlings involving [[TbPthruT.TbStormWarning]['Storm Warning']], [[TbAthruE.TbBlackForest]['Black Forest']], and [[TbKthruO.TbNightShadow]['Night Shadow']]. Z. Benson 1962. High Commendation 1959, 1962; Honorable Mention 1963.

A breathtaking black purple, highlighted by a luminescent green sheen, and a golden beard that sets it apart from other blacks! The large, perfectly formed flower reminds one of shimmering black satin draped on a beautiful frame, hence the name. Fertile both ways, and is proving to be a good breeder for green buds that might lead to that green iris. Sdlg. #4-4-19-6. H.C. '59. $20.00. Z. Benson. |
