From AIS Bulletin #205 April 1972 Introducing BLUE CHARMER (Rudolph '72) $25.00. No. 68-49 (Ellen Manor x 63-61): Midseason. 30". Violet-blue self. (RHS 89C). Flowers are very ruffled with perfect form and substance. Flaring falls with blue-tipped orange beard. Three well-spaced branches with seven buds. Very fragrant. Very vigorous plant and fertile both ways. Lakelawn Gardens. |
BLUE CHARMER (Rudolph, 1972), was much bluer in Virginia than we bloom it; ours has quite a bit of violet undertones. The branching is the thing with this one-can't wait to see somebody come to show with this one with three open. The heavy ruffling accents the pleasing form.
