1979, Hamblen

'Bonneville Surf' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1978). Seedling# H73-1A. TB, 32 1/2" (83 cm). Late midseason bloom. Standards light blue-violet (near RHS 92G), greenish midribs; falls same with center area often fading to greenish white; lemon yellow beard tipped lighter. Seedling# H71-90A: ('Angel Unawares' x 'Light Fantastic') X seedling# H70-14: (('Le Beau' x ('Celestial Snow' x 'Whir Of Lace')) x 'Angel Unawares'. Mission Bell 1979. Honorable Mention1981.

From AIS Bulletin #232 Winter 1979 Introducing BONNEVILLE SURF. ML, 83 cm. Wide petaled, large, ruffled, lacy medium light blue-violet (RHS 92C). In warm climates fall centers soon fade to greenish white, producing a bitone effect. Lemon yellow beards lighten at tips. Domed, closed stands; flaring, lilting falls. Low branching, good spacing and bud count. (Angel Unawares x Light Fantastic) X ((Le Beau x (Celestial Snow x Whir of Lace)) x Angel Unawares). No. 73-1A. $25.00. Mission Bell.
