'Castor' (Geo. Bunyard & Co., 1923) TB. Midseason bloom. Color Class W8. (Bun. 1923); Bun. 1923; Orp. 1927; Schreiner 1929; Silver Medal, I.S.(E.); Synonym: Castor Bunyard. (A.I.S. Check List 73: 1929; Castor (TB Bun.).

Bunyard's 1929 catalog: Castor. This fine Iris was much admired at Chelsea, and was awarded the Silver Medal of the Iris Society. The colour is new in Irises and constitutes a "break" in the standards are ivory, but almost completely spotted crimson, falls the same but with the ivory more apparent in the centre. The whole effect is bright crimson. 3-ft...each 12/6.
Wayman, 1943: Castor—36 in. White, peppered violet. SILVER MEDAL. 0.25c.
