From Mission Gardens catalog, 1960: CELESTIAL SNOW (Mission Gardens 1957). A large, heavily ruffled cool white. The ruffling runs all the way around the standards and falls. The falls are very broad and flaring, the beard is white with just a touch of lemon. A vigorous grower with strong, widely branched stems. Height about 38". The Parentage is Snow Flurry crossed with Celestial Blue. If you like ruffled iris don't miss this one. $17.50
From Carey E. Quinn, “The Modern White Iris,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 166 (July 1962): 9. CELESTIAL SNOW was developed by Brother Charles, a kind of down-to-earth missionary, and introduced by the Mission he belongs to, in 1957. Here is a large, broad, flaring, cool iris that has ruffling that runs all around both the standards and the falls. The beard is white. The plant is vigorous and well branched but the feature is the ruffling. Everyone will one day grow it.

From Larry Harder, “My White Want List,” The Bulletin of the American Iris Society, No. 188 (January 1968): 26. I will never give up growing for a long time the beautiful CELESTIAL SNOW that Bro. Charles gave us in 1957. It is a tall variety, and the blooms are mostly at the top of the stem, but the individual flower has not been surpassed by many of the new introductions.
