CORAL WAVE (Tompkins 1965) M.L. 38 in. (((F. Kent x Ballerina) x June Meredith)) x Lute Song))) x High Note. A large, heavily substanced and nicely formed flower of rich pink. Deeper in color by at least twice than any we have had before, this seems to us to be a definite step ahead. We had thought it sterile at first but in 1963 it set seeds and produced pollen quite readily so its early failure was likely due to being in a low area and having a touch of frost. We hope now that its seedlings may have an even greater depth of color or that it may lead to a really intense color saturation in the pink class in a generation or two. It is in itself an extremely showy flower of nice large size on tall well-branched stalks that carry two and three buds to the terminals. No. 61-80. $20.00. Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965]. |
