CRIMSON TIDE (1939) 42". Large. S red, arched and domed. F deeper red, very velvety, flare widely. Orange beard. Substance strong and lasting. Low and widely branched, with many blooms open. Does not spot. Splendid habit. Valor seedling with no Dominion heredity. First Class Certificate at Rome in 1940, runner-up to Red Valor which received the Roman Gold Medal. $12.00. CRIMSON TIDE (Nicholls, 1939) - Deep red with orange beard, standards dull purplish red, falls a deeper color, thus giving a good deal of contrast; falls flaringly recurved; this variety not in class with SOLID MAHOGANY.
