1945, Gersdorff 'Dusky Monarch' (Charles Gersdorff, R. 1945) TB. Midseason bloom. Color Code-R3D. 'Henchman' x 'Blue Prelude'. Sweet fragrance. An earlier seedling by Gersdorff was registered in 1938 with the same name but different parentage, 'M. A. Porter' x Tenebrae. May never have been introduced into commerce before 1939. (Peckham, p. 203). Obsolete—no longer in commerce. (1949 CL, p. 92). See below:
