From AIS Bulletin #197 April 1970 Introducing Eloquent. From a long line of seedlings stemming from black x white crosses. A splendidly formed cool white with a vivid deep blue beard extending well down the wide falls. $25.00. Bay View Gardens. |
Hybridizers continue to strive for white with a blue beard, but the closest approach to the goal are the pale blue irises 'AZURE APOGEE' and ELOQUENT. Both are serenely beautiful with beards which are in fine contrast to the petal coloring. AZURE APOGEE has only moderate increase, so we can hope that ELOQUENT will be better in that category. So far it is.[Mullin, Ron (1971). Irises I Like, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 11.] |
