From Milliken Gardens catalog, 1945: We think that 'Episode' is going to give people much pleasure but during the last two years it has brought us regrets and woe. People saw it in our show garden and insisted that we sell it. This we could not do because our stock was inadequate but when we tried to explain this then our woe began. We had placed it in the Show Garden prematurely. It is a large flower whose substance is not particularly good but whose color is striking. It is a blend of apricot, orange and yellow which you really have to see before you can visualize what this means. In extremely hot sunshine the color fades but when we explained this to our visitors it did not faze them - they seemed to want it more than ever. Perhaps we should build up our stock another year before selling it but these visitors who have seen it do not forget and why more woe? 3-1/2 feet. $7.50
