'Firewater' (Keith Keppel, R. 1975). Seedling 71-109A. TB, height 32" (81 cm), Midseason bloom. Medium gentian blue (M&P 43-D-10) self; flame to Indian orange beard. Seedling 68-52S: ((Jones seedling 743: seedling 641 x 'Crystal Flame') x ('Marquesan Skies' x 'Babbling Brook')) X seedling 68-49A: (('Babbling Brook' x 'Morning Breeze') x ('Morning Breeze' x 'Babbling Brook')). Keppel 1977. Honorable Mention 1978.

Large, wide, beautifully ruffled flowers on somewhat close-branched stalks. (Jones 743 x (Marquesan Skies x Babbling Brook» X (Babbling Brook x Morning Breeze) x reverse sib). HC '76. #71-109A. $25.00. Keith Keppel.
From Mid-America catalog 1981: FIREWATER (Keppel 77). This is the best red bearded blue seen so far. It has wide ruffled medium blue flowers on stalks that consistently have 3 to 4 branches andlots of buds.
