Standards hyacinth (M&P 42-F-7/8) overlaid on cream (9-D-2) giving aster violet (44-F-7/8) effect, cream shows toward center only; style arms bishops violet (44-GH-10), greyed violet (47-E-7) tip; falls sulphur yellow (10-J-1) center, wide lilac (44-H-8) to plum (47-J-9) edge; beards lemon yellow/white, blue and dull yellow/white at end. 98-204B, sibling to 'Sorbonne' pod parent, X 'Dreaming Clown'. Is it futile to wish for a blue and yellow plicata? This is a step in that direction. Standards lavender blue with steely violet marginal suffusion and fine texturing, some cream ground color showing at base. Cream to light lemon falls with half-inch shaded and dotted edge of lavender blue on the margin, turning rosier and darker toward inner edge. Inconspicuous beards are lavender white and yellow. Form only average, waved and lightly ruffled, standards spreading at tips . Good branching with up to ten buds. #02-70A. $45.00; 3 for $120.00.
