GAMBIT (Tompkins 1973) M. VL. (Irish Lullaby x Ovation) x ((Ovation x ((High Note X Tinsel Town) x Irish Lullaby). This is our first move to combine the breeding line of the Shockingly vivid pink Ovation with other pink lines which are all almost 100% from pale pink and yellow lines. Out of a great many crosses involving the Ovation line we have selected this as the most interesting and beautiful. Gambit is a large, very broad petaled and heavily substanced flower with wide, domed standards and flaring, near horizontal falls. It is a rich creamy pink self with a full self colored beard which is lemony tinted at its base. Its color is somewhere near the true pink found in Ovations sister Pink Pussycat if you can envision that with a cream undertone. It has beautiful form and is wonderfully styled and ruffled. No. 70-25. Net $25.00 [Fleur De Lis Iris Catalog, 1973]
