From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1955: GREEN CHANCE (George H. Murray). E.-M. (Appointee x Green Pastures.) Actually a chartreuse bi-color, and the falls have more actual green than any other iris I have ever seen. A large flower that needs more substance, so I am introducing it as a "green-chance" breeder, at a modest price so the hybridizers may own it. No. 139-50. $5.00
From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: GREEN CHANCE (Murray '55) EM-38". My nomination for greenest Iris available today. Has more real green tones than any other I have seen. So I photographed it in color for you. A fetching chartreuse bitone. Standards light green-chartreuse, strongly arched; falls large, spreading, yellowish & greenish olive. Under some conditions standards are quite open & falls only slightly spreading. Visitors always astonished at amount of green when they suddenly run onto it. I am using this more than any other in my crosses for new and better greens. Pollen very abundant & fertile, very heavy seed setter. No one hybridizing for greens should be without it. Likely to sell out early. Appointee X Green Pastures. Regularly $3.50; on $10 order $2.80; on $25 order $2.35.
